Summary

The recent trade conflict with Japan has highlighted the limitations of domestic technology development. In particular, experts have criticized the lack of domestic technical competence in materials, components and facilities across industries. While the world’s radiation detector market is expected to grow from $25.7 billion in 2014 to $33.7 billion in 2021, Korea’s patents only account for 0.5% of the global market.
